The right person for the job

One of the most important things when commissioning a translation is choosing the right person for the job. With ten years working as a Spanish to English translator, I have built up specialist knowledge and experience in international development, the environment and renewable energy, and the humanities and social sciences. My experience means you can rest assured that your text is in safe hands.

I provide a professional service and accurate, well-written translations that read as if they were originally written in English. This means you can be sure you’re using the right words, whether it’s presenting a professional image to peers, persuading prospective clients or communicating clearly and effectively within your organization and beyond. Choosing to work with me also means you will benefit from being able to communicate directly with the person working on your text, ensuring it comes out just the way you want it to.

Professional standards

My membership of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting gives my clients additional peace of mind. As a member, I am bound by its Code of Professional Conduct, which sets out strict standards for practising translators. This means you can relax, safe in the knowledge that you are working with a vetted professional.

My background

I’ve been translating from Spanish to English full-time since 2009 (part-time since 2006). Over the years I have worked with a wide range of texts from businesses, NGOs, not-for-profit organizations and academic clients. This has helped me build up knowledge and experience in fields such as international development, the environment, renewable energy and the humanities and social sciences, and I’ve also translated a great many texts of a more general nature.

Before becoming a translator, I worked in a number of roles, including as a web and content developer at the Royal Bank of Scotland and an editor of various websites at the University of Edinburgh. I also taught English as a foreign language in Chile. Since 2005, I have divided my time between Chile and Scotland, with a total of five years living in South America.

Helping you stay ahead of the pack

Language is constantly evolving, and the translation profession also changes with the times. Regularly participating in continuing professional development (CPD) activities helps me to learn new skills and keep existing ones up to date. All of which helps my clients stay ahead of the pack.
